2017-09-22 22:46 - Epee Coaching Course - Melbourne
Posted by kylemore from same (Australia)
AustraliaWe've just received late notification of this Epee coaching course in Melbourne.
There are currently no details as to the number of NZ coaches that can be taken.
Due to the short timescales it has been agreed that applicants should apply directly as per details below.

Further details include:
AFF are aiming to pitch the coaching course at an advanced a level as possible so that we can maximise the benefit from Maître Levavasseur's knowledge and experience - effectively, this means coaching fencers to succeed on the international stage.
This will to some extent be dependent on the background of the  coaches participating in the course. Encouragingly, we have already received expressions of interest from a number of Australia's more experienced coaches.

We are also fortunate that Maître Levavasseur will be accompanied to Australia by Sarra Besbes, former World No.1 in Women's Epee, who will act as a French/English translator.

We welcome applications from New Zealand coaches.

---------------------
Dear OFC members,

The AFF is delighted to announce that we will be running a high level epee coaching course in November 2017. This course is being offered as part of the IOC's Olympic Solidarity program.

The course will be delivered by Maître Daniel Levavasseur, world renowned expert and coach of multiple Olympic and World Championships medalists over several decades.

The course will be run at the State Fencing Centre in Melbourne, Victoria from 14 to 20 November 2017.

The course is free of charge and a travel and accommodation subsidy will be provided to selected participants. While the amount of the subsidy will depend on applications received, it is expected to be in the region of $750.

Coaches who wish to attend the course are requested to email operations@fencing.org.au by 30 September 2017, providing a short summary of their coaching experience and qualifications.

Depending on demand, places in the course may be limited. Applicants will be advised of the outcome approximately one week after the closing date.

We would be grateful if you could promote the course to coaches in your countries.

Kind regards
Evelyn

Evelyn Halls
President
Australian Fencing Federation

AustraliaFencing New Zealand is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of  Andrew Ius, immediate past President of AFF, on 25 July 2017, following an extended period of illness.

Andrew contributed more than 30 years of selfless and devoted service to the AFF and the Australian fencing community, in a broad range of roles. He was a member of the former AFF Executive (and the current Board) for 32 years from his election in 1985 until his retirement at the 2017 AGM.

2010-12-06 21:00 - 2010 Australian National Championships, Brisbane, 3-6 Dec 2010
Posted by Brillmartmore from same (Australia)
AustraliaCongratulations to Kyle Macdonald on his 8th place in a large individual Men's Epee field of 71 competitors. Over all the events Kyle was the highest seeded NZ fencer out of any of the first round pools (10th). He progessed smoothly through the DE rounds and had an outside chance of winning his last-16 DE bout. Kyle, in  classic Macdonald fashion,  with odds favouring 7th seed Mark Bianchinin (Victoria), Kyle took the match by the throat and shook out a 15-12 victory, booking a rendezvous in the quarter final with 2nd seed Will Dolley, where  Kyle finally succumbed, loosing 15-8.

Also competing were Chris Lear, 30th out of 42 in Men's Foil. Carla Campbell 16th out of 39 in Women's Epee - in the DE32 Carla beat 9th seed Emmma Ryan 15-10 but lost in DE16 to 8th seed Mita Hill 8-15. Also competing in the Men's Epee event with Kyle were William Bishop 18th, Adrian Saw 20th, Andreas Sesun 25th, Mark rance 41st, Brett Ammundsen 47th.

Of the 10 Men's Epee teams, New Zealand presented two teams of three (no reserves). The 3rd seeded New Zealand "A" (Bishop, Macdonald, Saw) lost 43-45 to 6th seeded NSW "A" for a final 5th place. The 9th seeded New Zealand "B" (Ammundsen, Sesun, Rance) was defeated 38-45 by Queensland "B", taking 9th place.
