The Singapore Cadet Fencing World Cup was held on 22-24 January with 125 fencers from 11 nations participating (Australia, Estonia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, USA).
Congratulations to Wai Ling Chan and Julius Herzhoff of The Fencing Institute in Christchurch for their participation in Singapore. They were fresh from training in Hong Kong with their Fencing Institute club coach, Daniel Chan and an opportunity to also participate and experience the Hong Kong Age Group Championships.

After the first round pools Wai Ling CHAN took on 16th seed Meirina KAMILAH PUTRI of Indonesia, winning 5-15, but then faced an on fire top seed WONG Liane Ye Ying, loosing 15-3 to take a final placing of 15th.
Julius Herzoff fencing in the men’s foil had a bye after having a good pool round with three victories and two defeats to gain 11th seed and a bye into the first of the direct elimination tableau. However he then drew 6th seeded Joshua LIM of Singapore and was eliminated 9-15 to take a final placing of 11th. In the Men’s Epee, Julius was seeded 8th after the pools and in a close DE bout at 14-13 to Thierry NG of Singapore Julius was unable to equalize. NG took the victory 15-13 and Julius had a final placing of 10th.
