Bravo! Well done So we say our good-byes and a final massive THANK YOU to our hosts the Fencing Association of India. To the organisers in Chennai the Tamil Nadu Fencing Association thank you for a job well done. To the referees, thank you, and all the other teams we really appreciated your participation and best wishes.
To all the team members thank you and especially to the Coaches, Manager, Supporters, (Sue Grant-Taylor, Barry More, Steve Clarke Francis and Tony Cuncannon) and all the parent helpers and clubs back in New Zealand - well done.

Sunday 29 Jan Last day of competition Men's Foil Team ( M Hoskins, C Cuncannon, L Watt, H Clarke), Seeded 6th against 3rd Seed Scotland defeated in the quarter final 21-45
Saturday 28th Jan Men's Epee Team A very last minute inclusion of a NZ Junior Men's Epee Team, allowed because of the request of the Organsiers and the agreemant of Landon Watt to participate in the epee teams event with borrowed equipment had NZ seeded 7th for the event.
The first round match against second seeded India A was delayed to alllow for televised coverage.
The New Zealand Juior Men's Epee Team of Andreas Sesun, Calum Cuncannon and Landon Watt rose to the occaision and won the match 45-41 to reach the semi-final and were assured of a medal.
Australia (6th seed) had beaten 3rd seeded Wales in another upset. The match off against Australia saw our Tasman rivals take the 45-26 victory
Friday 27 Jan Women's Foil Team - 8 teams: NZ Beats Wales 44-43 NZ lost to top seed England in semi-final 45-19 NZ places 3rd=
Individual Men's Epee (30 fencers) 1st James THORNTON (England) 2rd Martin CAMILLERI (Australia) 3rd= Tom BENNETT (England) 3rd= Sume SAINATHA (India)

Thursday 26th Jan Women's Foil 33 fencers - Medalists: 1st Celia SHILES (England) 2nd TAY Yu Ling (Singapore) 3rd= Monique COLEMAN (New Zealand) 3rd= Ciel MEPSTEAD (England) Monique Coleman wins bronze loosing to TAY Yu Ling 15-12
Final Placing of other NZ fencers 15th Amy SILK 16th Sara QI 24th Emily HILTON
Also a major upset - Sara Qi takes out 3rd seed Loidam Devi MOIRANGTEHM (India) in the first round of the DE - Qi joins Silk and Coleman through to the last 16. E Hilton out in first round of DE.
Qi and Silk bow out in last 16. Coleman beats 10th seed Lydia JOHNSON (Wales) 15-4 to reach last 8 and fences 2nd seed NG Ruth Yi Lin (Singapore) for a place in the semi final.
Monique Coleman reached semi-final - medal assured, beating 2nd seed NG Ruth Yi Lin (Singapore) 13-12 for a place in the semi final for a chance at gold.
