Posted by Lambviccmore from same (International)
InternationalIn the Asian Junior Championships Wai Ling Chan continued to impress. Ranked 38th after pools (out of 62 fencers, 43 fencers qualified for DE), Wai Ling fenced well in the DE right through to the quarter finals.

After beating Leah Tausan, AUS (15/14) in her first DE Wai Ling advanced to the top 32 where she beat Deng Lu Lu (CHN) ranked 6th, and advanced to top 16. There she beat Yang Yu, CHN (15/13) progressing to the top 8.

In the quarter final Wai Ling lost to Diana Sher, AUS (10/15), finishing the day with a very creditable 8th place.

Congratulations to Wai Ling Chan on her great results.

Also competing in the Asian Juniors was Daniel Garelja who came out of the pools ranked 28th out of 73 fencers in Men's foil. Unfortunately Daniel lost his first DE and the final ranking is yet to be confirmed.

In the Men's Epee, Sheldon Ogilvie emerged from the pools 53rd out of 72, missing the cut by 2 places with the top 51 fencers qualifying for the DE.
