We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Joyce Fenton, peacefully, Wednesday 15 January 2014 at Auckland Hospital after a short illness. Loved wife of Alan. The funeral service will be held at Purewa Cemetery and Crematorium on Thursday 23 January at 10.30am. In lieu of flowers donations to the SPCA would be appreciated.
Joyce was a New Zealand representative at the 1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, in Kingston, Jamaica. With Gaye McDermot (Individual bronze) and Pam French they won the Women’s Foil Team Bronze. A supporter of fencing in Auckland, she would often visit the major championships with Alan. Fencing North’s “Fenton Epee Championship” bears their name.
We extend our sympathies and condolences to Alan and his family.
