2014-08-06 21:55 - MERV SHARFE. The passing of a New Zealand Fencing Stalwart
Posted by Lambviccmore from same (FeNZ)
FeNZIt is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of a great friend, mentor, coach, teacher, member of the Assassins Club (1965) and fencing legend, Merv Sharfe.

The Fencing New Zealand family sends its condolences to Rosemary, Nigel, Alastair, Frances Leigh and all the family at this time.

SHARFE, Mervyn Arnold Passed away Sunday 3 August 2014 at North Shore Hospital, aged 82. First born of the late Agnes Christina and Walter Artur Sharfe. Big brother to Valmai (Mrs JB Munro) and Graeme. Treasured husband of Rosemary for 51 years. Father of Nigel, Alastair and Frances Leigh; father-in-law of Rebecca and Jossie. Grandad of Kai, Evan, Alexa Rose, Joshua and Eva. A born teacher; respected by friends, colleagues and pupils alike. At peace after a long struggle with cancer. No flowers by request; donations to The Cancer Society would be appreciated. A service for Mervyn will be held at Romaleigh Chapel, 31 Ocean View Rd, Northcote on Thursday 7 August 2014 at 2pm
