We are gratefull to our International Federation, the Federation International d’Escrime (FIE) to have been invited to have one of our fencers attend an International Training Camp in Fontenbleau, France. 30 countries have been invited to have one fencer attend. The FIE will cover fullboard, accomodation, coaching and provide a Euro 400 grant towards travel costs.
A number of our athletes were identified by the selector as eligible across all weapons and ranked. We are pleased to be able to announce Laura Harvey (foil), of NZAF fencing club has been selected and accepted to attend this international training camp.
The course runs from May 8th to May 28th. The Course is directed by Ioan Pop the FIE technical Director, assisted by three separate weapon coaches; Daniel Levavesseur (France - Epee), Petru Kuki (Roumania – Foil) and Stubarbin (Ukraine – Sabre). Over the three weeks, there will be 10 coaching sessions per week, covering footwork, bouting, and individual lessons. Laura will also be participating in several World Cup events (Leipzig 13 May, Budapest 27 May and then Challenge Jeanty – Marseille 2 June and 2 weeks later In the USA, Las Vegas for the 16th June).
During her time at the camp, Laura will keep us posted with what is happening so look out for her Training Camp Diary / Course Notes on what is hot in fencing.
