It is with much sadness that that we must advise that our old friend Keith Mann, past President of Fencing New Zealand, past President of Mid-South, and past New Zealand Selector for many years,  passed away on Saturday morning  in Christchurch Hospital at the age of 89. He has been unwell for most of this year and in hospital and briefly a rest home for the last month or so.

Keith was the epitome of a good fencer and as a role model for many in the fencing community.
He has represented NZ with honour in foil, épée, and sabre including as a double Commonwealth Games participant in 1962 and 1966 and as a manager in many important world games and championships. Keith was renowned for always acting  with modesty and good sportsmanship.

For the last ten or so years Keith was Patron of United Fencing Club, a committee member and coach. At 89yrs he was still fencing, refereeing bouts, coached sabre at the club and often represented them at regional meetings.

Our thoughts are with Keith's family and friends, and everyone whose lives he touched in our Fencing community.

RIP Keith – a true gentleman who served our sport well for so many years.
