Fencing New Zealand is currently undertaking a formal Risk Assessment to determine whether it is appropriate and viable to send a team to the Commonwealth Senior, Veterans and U23 Championships in Lagos, Nigeria.
Before any commitment is made, the Board is calling for Expressions of Interest to assess athlete demand and overall feasibility.
Fencers should carefully consider factors such as NZ Government travel advice, health and vaccination requirements, insurance, airfares and accommodation costs.
If approved, the team will be an officially sanctioned FeNZ team with appointed coaching and management support. All athletes will be required to book through official channels, stay at the designated accommodation, use official transport, and agree to FeNZ Terms and Conditions.

Date: Sunday 09 August to Wednesday 19 August 2026. (Weapons control opens Saturday 08 August 2026.)
Mandatory requirements for participation
- 1. Current New Zealand passport
- 2. Current 2026 Fencing New Zealand licence.
- 3. FIE Licence valid for the duration of the competition.
