International Competitions 2025-2026 Season

International Calendar

The NZ Masters' Games will take place in Dunedin from 1 to 9 February. Fencing will take place 8-9 February.

Fencers wishing to fence overseas at events organised by the International Fencing Federation (FIE), the European Fencing Confederation (EFC) or Asian Fencing Conferderation (AFC) are required to purchase a licence from Fencing NZ (Our forms). Event entries must be made by Fencing NZ through the relevant portal. Links below:

Zone Championships and World Championships are Nomination events and are subject to selection by Fencing NZ Selectors. Currently, most other events are open to all NZ fencers. Some events have a restriction on numbers per country. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for further information.

Fencers wishing to fence in Australia are able to enter the event as long as they are affiliated to Fencing NZ. All Age Group National events in Australia are Nomination events and are subject to selection by Fencing NZ Selectors.

Fencers wishing to participate in a NZ team event at an Australian Senior Championship will need to self-nominate using the correct form for that event. This form will require payment of a portion of the team entry fee. If the fencer is not selected for a team, then they will receive a refund after the event. If the fencer self-nominates for the team event but later decides they are no longer available for the team event, they do not get a refund as Fencing NZ may have already paid the team fee.

More information on fencing overseas can be found in the document International Tournament Pathway.

Nominations to Selection events can be completed using the correct Form for that event. A Nomination Fee of $160 applies to all Selection events (increased to $160 from 1 February 2024).

Fencers wishing to fence at club level overseas must meet the requirements of the country in which they are fencing.

The Fencing New Zealand Athletes' Commission was established in 2019.

It is with much sadness Fencing New Zealand acknowledges the passing of one of its youngest members.
